mikelliot:

Sorry about the delay in answering... just saw your question. The Peragon is not completely water-tight, as their site readily states. However, I've not yet seen any leaks from the sides (roller mechanism areas). The only water we've seen is from the tailgate, which we have not yet weatherstripped. So, naturally water comes in there, duh. I'm not sure how well any truck can be sealed at the tailgate, especially if the gate is actually used to any degree. I think the top of the gate is the greatest source of water with the Peragon, especially since it doesn't come over the gate. Any that don't have this possibility.

If I HAD to have a water-tight cover, I'd go with one in fiberglass that comes down over all rails.

Hope this helps.

All the best.

I got the same thing as Mill500 and I'm a fan. I was skeptical about the velcro, cause I had snaps on an older truck of mine, but I like it, its alot easier to get tight across the bed. Here are some pics. Only downside is that it narrows the width of the top of the bed by a few inches.

I put a soft cover on my truck. I went with a Torza Top. It's great!!! I never have water in the bed of my truck. Everything stays 100% dry. It has a simple latching system and folds into 3 sections and can be removed from the truck in less then 10 seconds. It's got 2 latches in the front and two in the rear. Simply open you tailgate and unlatch it.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Hey wingviper, what is that one piece cover that you have on your bumper where the trailer hitch area is? Did that come standard on your truck? My '05 has the three separate plastic discs and the middle one (the one that covers up the hole where you could use a ball hitch) came off and is missing. My local dealer can't locate a part number for it and said I'm pretty much SOL.

I also have a Truxedo Low Profile. I like the ease of rolling it back for full bed access above the rails. In the northwoods, the spring tensioning system is easy to address the stretching in the summer heat and its contraction of the winter with a couple of screwdriver turns. A single person can fully uninstall and reinstall the rails if needed. The rail design had some thought put into it at it relies on loosening the bolts and slipping the clamps off instead of removing the bolts completely. My only complaint is the velcro will pick up and hold debris such as grass clipping or leaf stems etc. Takes 5 minutes to wipe down the top with a cleaner/conditioner, still looks like new 1 year later. No problems with running it thru the touchless car was with a blow drier.
