Default Hoods and Tailgates?

Does anyone know if they make lighter hoods or tailgates for the 04 Ram? Any ideas on how to save on some weight on a QC? Thanks

Ahh I do love my STD cab! I would not expect to find a aftermarket tailgate. As for the hood I do not think it weighs all that much, however a aftermarket glass hood would save a little, but not enough to justify the cost. However if you add in the fact that a hood with a scoop looks good and add a functional induction system, and you have the grand to dump into it, maybe it is worth it.

If you were worried about weight you should have went with a STD cab, no power windows, 17" wheels and no option group which gives you ground effects. All those are uneeded weight.

You can make the tailgate lighter by taking the darn thing off the truck! LOL . Any reason why you are trying to get rid of some weight?

I have put a few fiberglass hoods on Chevy's. They are in no way any lighter than they stock hoods and I don't see why it would be any different with a Dodge.

I think your task of making one of these trucks lighter will end up in failure. These trucks are pigs.

Remove the rear seats, haha. No, seriously, take out the fold-flat storage, dump the rear seats, and put in lighter racing seats up front. Should save you a couple hundred pounds. But honestly, losing a 100 pounds only gets you a few tenths better on the track. I'd suggest just upgrading the engine. Maybe even getting lighter rims. But there's not much fat to be cut from a truck. Its all in the engine, suspension and frame. Just my two cents.

Ive got a fiberglass hood and as always with fiberglass you have a vibration going 80mph. Its from hambekcustoms.com Its a lot lighter, you have to also get light psi hood shocks !
