If you used spray paint on your factory paint color I don't think any amount of clear coat will make it blend. Factory colors are special blends so they can charge you more when you need repainting lol
Well for one,,, spray can paint is junk. Any automotive paint or primer without a catalyst/hardener should never be applied to your vehicle and expected to last.
Overspray should be removed with overspray clay on the paint and steel wool used on glass and chrome.(don’t use it on your mirror glass). any blend of color is supposed to be clear coated. For example, you paint a new fender blend into the door and then the whole door is cleared. But only cleared after its lightly sanded with 800 or 1000 grit wet sanding paper so the clear sticks..
I don’t recommend you use a machine buffer on any factory paint because the paint is so thin. Manufactures are only allowed 1 mill of paint material per vehicle and buffers remove badly needed material.. This is why factory paint peels after so many years, its do to the paint being so thin that it wont adhere once the sun has eaten away part of the paint.
Pealing paint is not necessarily the manufactures fault it do to government regulations in most cases..
Remember too,,, all metal should be coated with an etching primer to adhere normally before any paint or primer filler is applied. Etching primer is acid based and etches into the metal unlike paint or primer filler.,
Buffing on a repaint is fine the average repaint has up to 5 or 6 mills of paint.
( i have been painting cars or over 20 years )

yes clear coat the entire panel you blend . you can also sand the blend panel with gray scotchbright pad and water dont use red scotchbright its so aggressive and you will see the sanding marks in the clear. make sure you clean the panel good with glass cleaner or solvent cleaner before you pant to prevent fish eyes. tack rag before you paiint too and spray some water on the floor to keep dust down.
over spray clay is at any auto store...
also make sure the color and the clear are compatable so the clear doesnt lift the color coat if your not sure do a test panel.
odd when i go to edit the word (paint) above its spelled correctly but when i go to this page its spelled wrong...lol
