I just put my temp gauge in on the cooler hot line, on a cool 56 degree night under no load at cruising speed of approx 50mph I run 145ish, when I get on the fuel and doing some shifting under load I hit 185ish tops. We have a heat wave coming this week I'll post back for reference those temps

@nolimtz, I am monitoring my temp using an Edge Insight CTS.

@drew, sounds like a pretty straightforward process. I have just put in one cooler, TRU Cool H7B, in front of the radiator so I guess Ill need to get one more. No biggie if it will avoid the combining of trans fluid and coolant. That scares the crap out of me!

Now will this process avoid routing coolant through the radiator, thus solving my trans fluid leak coming from the radiator? If so I am going to do it because it seems it will be cheaper than buying a new radiator.

I know I have said thanks a lot but I have to say a big THANKS again. I am new to diesel trucks and only bought it to tow my newly purchased 5th wheel. I am learning a lot through this and other forums, thanks to helpful folks like yourself. I just wish I did not have to learn this much so quickly!!!

Ahh that's why I can't find my tranny lines going to radiator, your running diesel. On my 05 1500 5.7 545rfe tranny no lines go to radiator and I'm completely stock, well was until I did work to it.

Just to clarify, your TRANS temp was 180*, correct?

others seem to be referencing coolant temp & t-stats.

If he's using oe plumbing, it routes through the radiator, and coolant temp plays a major role in the trans fluid temp.... The exchange surface, the health of the system, and the stat regulate trans temps too.. my suggestion is that he abandons that concept..

understand and agree. I assumed he was pulling temps form a trans gauge.

Yes, 180 is Trans temp. I have yet to find any inlets/outlets on radiator for Trans lines. Really confuses me since I put a new Trans cooler up there and am still leaking Trans fluid from the right corner of the radiator......

Hold up..

Dude, are you certain its coming from the transmission circuit? Reason I ask is the right side of the rad as you're facing the front is where your steering fluid heat exchange lives.. it also operates with at+4... It's common for those to leak too..

Its on the passenger side, bottom corner of the rad. I thought the same thing but the fluid in my power steering pump is definitely not red plus no leaks at all on the driver (hose) side.
