IAC sensor reinstall problems?!
First post here but a familiar forum...hi!
I wonder if anyone could help me as I am really pretty screwed right now. My truck has a 2006 4.7 v8. Took the iac sensor off to try to clean it. Taking it off was a bear but by twisting it slowly I managed to pull it out. Now tried to reinstall it and it just wouldn't go in! Tried to twist it again but it wouldn't work at all. In the end I stupidly cracked one of the mounting tabs (or whatever you would call them) on the sensor.
Do I need to take off the whole throttle body to be able to put it back in? It's as if there's something right where the sensor needs to go. And can I at least use the sensor again if only for a day to be able to get to work?
Sorry if this topic has been beaten to death but I tried to search for a while and didn't find much help at all...And it's urgent
Thank you guys so much

Thanks weedahoe
Well, it's not even broken off, it's just cracked right at the top, I don't imagine it affecting stuff too much as long as I can get the darn thing in. Tried to use super glue at hand to make it more flush but it didn't really work much.
I really can't find any info anywhere whether I have to take the TB off to do anything with IAC or not. But it came out ok! So how come I struggle to get it back in... If I could get this old sensor in while I get a new one, itd be amazing... A new one won't help anyway if I can't get it in.

Thanks. Well I ended up getting it in eventually, without taking tb off. It took quite a bit of pressure while I twisted it back and forth between 10 and 11 o clock and then finally twisted it down to line it up for the bolt. What a pita engineering thank you for reassuring me though, the fact that the sensor was cracked didn't change a thing...well I actually hope I can get it out now again. Haha
