Default Auburn Gear LSD replacement?

Having the LSD issue, and have decided to use a Auburn gear lsd (542-070) and was told to NOT use a syn. lube. Regular lube w/additive they supply. Why would syn. not be better?

clutch packs in those don't like synthetic- will break down prematurely, and they won't cover it..

Actually, the reason Auburn gave me over the phone is that synthetic works TOO WELL and even with a friction modifier - the clutch packs have a hard time grabbing.

I use Lucas conventional in the rear - changed every 15k miles and Royal Purple in the front - changed every 30k miles...
