02 Ram 4x4 Speed Sensor Location
Hey guys, new to the Ram world. My ABS light and Brake light are on and my speedo is gone. After some research i replaced the Speed sensor in the Differential and it didn't fix anything. My check engine light is also on and throws a P0500. I am in the process of wanting to change my other speed sensor and i am having trouble finding anything that shows me which sensor is the correct one on the transmission. Does anyone have a diagram that will show where that is or a picture? Any help locating this would be great.
And i apologize if this has been shown before but the only info i could find was for 2nd gen rams and it doesn't seem to be in the same spot.
Thanks

Go to www.Autozone.com and enter your truck info and do a search for the speed sensor. It will give you both pics, prices and information on them

the speed sensor and the ABS sensor live in the rear axle.. they are tone ring actuated..
there is another, redundant speed sensor in the trans, but it is not a player in transmitting anything to you, the operator.. it's a puzzle as to why it's there..
your issue(s) are on the drivers side of the rear axle.. they are pretty obvious when you know where to look..
good luck!!

I finally got around to replacing the speed sensors, output and input, but it didnt solve my issue. I am starting to think its a bad ground or broken wire.
I finally decided to drop it off at the dealer and have them take a crack at it. however my problems have grown. As i was driving the truck to the dealer, 19 miles away, the truck decided to quit on me twice. The truck would start right back up but both times when coming to a stop sign it just seem to quit.
So now my problems are as follows:
No Speedo
ABS Light
Brake Light
Air Bag Light
Check Engine light
and Randomly quiting
Once i get the diagnosis from the shop i will put it here as to hopefully give some more insight.

my friend, I hate to break bad news- but... grrrr..
sounds like your PCM has soiled the sheets...
but try this first:
open your hood, disconnect negative battery cable.. locate your PCM (passenger firewall), make sure the connections are clean, and solid.. check your grounding straps..
reconnect battery, jump in it.. hold tripometer button and turn ignition on (don't start).. release button.. watch for codes.. write them down.. this is a Chassis Code Test.. (c-code).. look for faults on the same circuit.. break out a wiring diagram, and look for common grounds..
if it's not your PCM, it's likely a ground that's broken.. a simple SIMPLE fix..
edited to add:
it turning off is indicative of loss of battery connectivity- which is in itself a ground.. or, it could be a failing CKPS.. make certain you have good integrity on the battery connections- take off posts, brush them clean.. brush the terminals.. apply petrolium jelly (good ol' vasoline), and you'll always have a good connection that won't corrode..
on thinking about this momentarily, I bet it's a problem at your battery..
