Im guessing ur talking about pinion seal (at driveshaft). Put a small scribe mark or punch mark on nut and pinion by the threads. This is so that u can put nut back on in the same location. Holding pinion flange, remove nut and washer. Remove flange with a soft faced hammer or similar. Using old screwdriver or similar, pry old seal out, taking care not to scratch or damage seal mating surface. Carefully drive new seal into housing. Replace flange onto pinion splines. Install washer and nut, and tighten...aligning the scribes u made before disassembly. check diff oil Hope this helps.

I've never done this but, have read to count the number of turns you back the pinion nut off. Remove the old seal and reassemble as stated above.
Put a "new" pinion nut onto the pinion and count exactly the same number of turns and line up your marks.
Then, add a quarter turn.
