Automatic Transmission surging when stopped or slowing
Greetings all,
We have a 2004 1500 3.7L and have found that many times (but not always) when driving "normally" at speeds typically 35 mph or higher it seems as though the transmission doesn't slow down at the same (or even close) to the same rate as the truck. So much so that when stopping it feels like the truck will lurch forward (if the brakes are not thoroughly applied) or stall when sitting at a light. A common example of when this occurs would be when exiting a highway and coming to a stop at the intersection with adequate stopping distance allowed.
The truck has about 52k miles and had a basic trans service less than 5k miles ago. Any thoughts on this issue? I checked the frequent issues thread and only saw the mention of the fluid maybe being an issue, however with a fairly recent service I would think this would not be the cause.
Thanks!
Keith

Thanks for the response, I'm familiar with the PCM reset. (Had to do it before for a hard shifting issue) any specific area to look for on the vacuum leaks?
I hate to sound like a newbie, but I'm lost when it comes to auto transmissions. If it were a stick, like everything else I've owned in the last 20 years, I probably wouldn't have this issue. Thanks again.
