Performance Chip turning on Engine light??
I have an 03 1500 hemi with a G-Force performance chip in it, I bought it with the truck, after I brought it home the guy that sold it to me said the check engine light comes on and when it does bring it to him cause he can turn it off, he said the chip makes it come on...I've had the truck 2 months it came on yesterday, I dont think that this is good, the switch for it to turn off and on in the cab I'm wondering if I should just turn it off so that I dont have to worry about the chip but if I turn it off is there something that will be missing under the hood that the chip is in replacement of??
Today at lunch he's going to "turn off the light" down the road how do I know if its the chip or there really is an engine problem?? what the??

If this is the G-Force performance chip I see everywhere, its a "snake oil" type deal. A cheap resistor wired onto a sensor, designed to fool the engine into thinking the intake air is cooler than it really is.
Of course, they don't call it a cheap resistor. They package it up in a fancy box and call it a "performance chip." The computer eventually learns around this anyway, so it actually does hardly anything, and in some cases (like yours) may cause problems. Its more of a mental thing, the placebo effect, for the people who buy it.
I would take it to a reputable shop and have them check to see what the codes are exactly that are causing your CEL to come on (the actual code check should be free), remove the "chip", and promptly throw it into the trash bin on your way out the door. My two cents.
Also, for future reference:

Him turning the engine light off is simply clearing the code. That does not mean he is fixing the problem. Turning the engine light off constantly is not going to allow you to pass inspection. I'd remove that terrible chip and cut your losses. Once your truck learns itself after you've installed that chip, this is when the light will come on. Anything labeled "Chip" is JUNK! You need and want a handheld tuner!
Look in the FAQ section for the Free Torque Management mod. You jumper wires in the relay box under the hood. Removes the drastic cut in power in between shifts. Hammer is the one who put up the thread for his 2004.

Hammer cannot do the TM delete mod - it's an '03 only thing, but I've done it on other people's '03s a few times now.
As for the G-Force - READ the reviews! PURE SNAKE OIL! It usually causes a CEL and almost everyone reports degraded performance when they install one...

So its probably not a good idea to pull a horse trailer with it in there....the mechanic checked the codes (didnt ask what they were dumb me) and said it was the chip and reset it. .
Chip lol. radio shack sells chips 5 for 99 cents! Like they said take it off and your problems will be solved. But for TRM delete is easy search for it and you will find it. I just did it to mine about a month ago and it showed firmer shifts even with my programmer. If you cant find it PM me its as easy as removing a wire
I took it to the guy I got it from and he just unplugged it and left it there said I will notice a decrease in power, towing, gas mileage and I can just re plug it in if I 'miss it', well I hauled yesterday and used the same gas without a trailer that I do with. I think my trucks happier.

It should be! When they sell the chips they dont usually specify the resistor size so the usually will make something go wrong. The right resistor will make a little more HP at WOT and thats a five dollar build.
