Default A few questions about my dodge ram 1500

Hello. I bought my ram 1500 new in 05. It is the V6, 6 speed model. It has 65,000 miles on it. Recently I've had a light problem. All the lights go off. headlights, dash lights, tail lights. It will then randomly come back on. Usually if I hit a big bump. I took it to the shop and they called dodge and still couldn't figure out the problem. He thought it might have something to do with the aftermarket CD player. I put that in 60,000 miles ago but I pulled it out and everything checks out.

It also has a very bumpy ride. I replaced the shocks and it didn't help. It's also been bumpy ever since I bought it.

Also. What can I do to increase my Horse Power a little bit. I have to down shift to 4th gear usually just to get up a hill. Do they even make chips for V6's

Thank you!

sounds like it could be a loose ground causing lights to go out

My thoughts exactly. Might want to check the connections on the head unit too, and make sure the wires are not frayed somewhere. As far as the ride goes, when you say bumpy, like loose feeling? or tight?

I know I had issues with a ground on passenger fender that affected my headlights

I just thought of something....Check the head unit...I know that some factory harnesses have a Dimmer wire coming from the harness to the head unit. I remember I had a similar issue on a old Dodge Caravan I had, that had a aftermarket unit in it. The problem was that the dimmer wire would touch the back side of the head unit. There was one strand of the wire that was not covered by electical tape (I was young at the time and had no idea what I was doing) Since it was the dimmer switch it was shutting off all the lights for a second when it shorted out...
