Default 05 1500 5.7 auto 4WD indicator

I've done some searching and find two different directions to look and not sure which way to start.
I've got a new to me 05 1500 5.7 auto, You can feel the transfer case clunk when shifted 2H-4H or any other combo but, the 4WD indicator does not come on.
I ran the Inst cluster check and get no codes but, the light doesn't come on during the test.
Where is the "CAD"?
Where do I start?
Thanks!

If i am not mistaken, there is a vacuum indicator on the transfer case that controls those lights, has 4 vacuum lines on it. Check them and/or the indicator. I am sure someone will correct me if i am wrong

huh... my truck has done this ever since I got it. I never worried about it since I can feel it shift into 4wd and there is a noticeable difference in driving. I can tell it is working so I never worried about it, but maybe ill check some of the wiring to see if I can find a problem.

maybe the bulb burned out....? have you thought about that...?

I remember a friend of mine had a bitching Ford F150from 1998... with massive tires & lift and a V8...etc... and he kept failing his inspection b/c there was a trouble code (back then they weren't able to give you a failure report)

but there wasn't a check engine light on... well sure as **** we checked everything had the dealer scan it... even the dealer was like (oh the computer is fried blah blah blah)

So I said "Brian... just pull the cluster and change all the bulbs back there..." He blew me off, so I did it myself while he drank my beer (grrrr) and after I was done, I started the truck up and like Magic the CEL was now lit up...

So maybe that's your problem... happy hunting.......

Its the switch on the transfer case. Mine did the same...the light didnt come on with the dash test either. Put a new switch in and and the dash "4WD" light comes on when in 4WD.
