Thats what im trying to do.
Im trying to diagnose and stop a noise im having and just trying to do one thing at a time. So it wont cause any problems taking the heat shields off?
What are they held on by? Just some nuts on the same studs that hold the manifolds on?

Heat shields are nice but still heat will rise and radiate. You can always be do what I did and get ceramic coated headers

got the broken bolt out last night. What a relief. I drilled the pilot hole, then was able to literally unscrew it by hand with the ez out.
Replaced all of the bolts w/ some heavy duty stuff and the noise is gone.
Thanks for your help guys.

What type of heavy duty replacement bolts did you use, out of curiousity?

I used Grade 5 or 8 (I forget which now) with lock washers and have never had any issues.

I went with grade 8.8 I think.
unfortunately the noise is in fact still there - came back after a day or so...replaced the gasket and everything...not quite sure what to try.
