Default No power.. sluggish...

Hello all... I'm having some issues with my truck... for quite a while now... I've been noticing my truck has no power on while driving... seems fine first and second gear... but cruising around at like any where over 40 just seems like i have no power... unless i really push the accelerator to get it to down shift.... the truck was not always like this... also... some times when i start it after it's been sitting over night or so.. it fires right up... but kinda attempts to stall when i try to drive off... clears up after a couple minutes of driving then its' fine... think the 2 are related??

The truck is a 2007 1500 TRX4 with the Hemi... has about 82000 miles...

You're comment about no power above 40 could be a transmission issue. Mine has a "soft" spot between 45-52 miles an hour where there is *******ly no throttle response until you really press it down and make the truck downshift. I always figured it was due to shifting into a higher gear than it really should, so on the torque curve you really do have no power in that gear. It's one of the reasons I will get a programmer eventually, then I can set the shift schedules to not do that crud.

Soft spot??? really??? does that appear from nowhere??? I have not always had this problem....

What are the intervals for plugs and wires??? and is there a better way to clean the throttle body??

I don't think it's a tranny issue myself. It's much more common that it's a maintenance issue. Dirty throttle body, clogged EGR and/or PCV valves, plugs with more than 30,000 miles on 'em, dirty air filter, etc...

I always feel a loss of power in 5-10k miles after changing plugs. I am with fresh plugs I feel extra power in seat of the pants and it doesn't downshift on the highway. I I don't know why this seems to happen so quickly and I use ngk vpowers which are considered top notch copper plugs...

Im with Hammer i dont think its a Tranny problem or you would prolly feel it a little more. Maybe even with some noises.

Id start cheap with a good tune up, maybe even change the o2 sensors for giggles.

cat...

edited to make more sense:

your cat is likely clogged.. often times they rattle some passage after a brief 'lag', and appear to breath enough for you to build RPMs, or are getting decent breathing below a certain RPM range.. it will get progressively worse, if not addressed..

if it is a catalytic converter, and it's not a factory defect (which happens from time to time), my next worry would be "why did it clog?"..

If that was it, clogged cat, what causes that?
