Default Transfer case

Have an '07 Big Horn 1500, how do I tell which transfer case it has the, manual states for lubrication -Transfer Case ATF+4 fluid, but says if it's a NVG 246 to run Mopar NVG 246 ATF or Equivalent, is there any major difference between the two fluids?

Get under the truck, the transfer case has a small metal plate on it with the model of the transfer case. Do not put regular AFT4 in your transfer case if your truck has Auto 4x4. If your not sure, bring your vin to a dealership and they will tell you what you need. Mine has an Auto 4 wheel drive selection and I have an NG 246 transfer case. You can also put in GM Auto Trak II fluid. It is blue in color.

I found your thread and wondered if you could locate the information on my truck with my vin? I’m not sure of which transfer case I have either. Thank you.

Go here, feed it your VIN, and it will tell you everything your truck came with from the factory.
