2005 1500 QC - Malfunction light
Hi all,
I have a 2005 Dodge ram QC (2WD) and recently found the MIL "malfunction" light turned on when starting the engine this morning. I replaced the fuel filler cap with a locking gas cap I got from Wal-mart about 3 days ago. Today was the first time I saw the light come on. I switched to my original filler cap and drove about 15 miles and the light is still illuminated. Is there anything I can try before making a trip to the dealer? BTW, it has 1300 miles on it.
Thanks,
-P

Yup, find someone with an OBDII scanner and get the code, if its your gas cap--delete it.
If it isn't your gas cap, at least you'll have a clue as to what it is.

Gone Fishin -- Thanks for the quick reply. Any idea on where I might purchase an OBDII scanner locally? I am pretty new to the area and don't have many contacts here yet.
