Default re. 03 rear end noise

I finially found out what was making the grinding/ rubbing noise when i made turns. I took the truck into the dealer and they had to tear the rear end down. They found that the pinion bearings, carrier bearings, and the posi unit was bad. A week later and everything replaced under warranty its back with no noises!

Default RE: re. 03 rear end noise - Get Your Pinion Seals Checked!

I'm having the pinion seal replaced right now on my '04 1500 Quad Cab. A bit of advice to everyone with 1500s still under warranty - check the rear end frequently for leakage during the first 36,000 miles. My truck just turned 15,000 and based on the amount of rear end fluid spit out on the gas tank it looks like it's probably been leaking for a while, although I certainly didn't see any drips on the ground, etc.

I'm planning on checking mine regularly from here on out.
