Default Installed new Airaid MXP, loss of power????

Feels like I lost some hp somewhere, down low and at the top. Also sounds like an old 4 barrel carb when I get on it. Checked all connections and shes tight. Its louder than my exhaust! Any ideas or is this normal? Also sounds like a deep fluttering sound when pushing the pedal down slow or full.

I would expect the sound you are hearing is normal. The normal box on top of the engine is for quieting that sound and it makes a difference.

As for losing HP, I wonder if it's not some sort of illusion where you hear more sound so you think there should be more power too. Not sure, just throwing it out there... How bad is this power loss?

It just seems flat on bottom and on top. The fluttering sound is what concerns me. As if something is echoing back out from the motor. Maybe its just a normal pulsing sound that is otherwise muffled by the airbox. I had just the Airaid tube to the stock box and didnt have any of these noises with just the hemi hat deleted. IDK I'll let her relearn for a while and see if anything changes. The 4 barrel sound is damn loud though.

Hmmm like every one has said the Hemi Hat really quiets things down.
I know what you mean by the 4 barrell sound, if i dont have any tube running to the TB i get the sound but as soon as i reconnect something its not as bad but you can still hear it

Maybe Broggyr said you may be dissapointed that the intake is louder than usual tricking you to think you should have much more HP.
CAI arent meant to sky rocket your HP/TRQ its simply meant to be a nice addition looks wise and for a little bit better breathing room.

I really was not expecting hp gains above what my programmer already has done. Just less effort on the engines part. But a loss, wasnt expecting that. Maybe it just smoothed out IDK. Like I stated before, Ive had just the Airaid MIT tube on for about a year now. This eliminated the hemi hat a year ago. Will the cone style filter really unleash that much more noise than the stock airbox?

Yes You had a huge bulky box that was enclosed now you have a slim open cone.
Its gonna sound like its really sucking air in, thats its job and the point of running a open filter like you have now, Cold Air Intake shouldnt be the name for these, It should Be More Air Intake lol
