Default New magnaflow instaled, got drone : (

Put in on this morning and then took it to a shop to have them weld it on and create a extension pipe for the outlet to the tailpipe since the new muffler was shorter then the OEM. The whole thing including the muffler and welding cost under 60 bucks : )

It sounds good and has a nice rumble to it, I am happy with it. One thing wrong is now I have some good drone when on the highway and at RPMs higher then 1800.

Any suggestions on an easy fix? Also I have only replaced my muffler, cats and resonator are still there.

I thought the resonator would help by staying on and I don't think the 4.7 has MDS.

Sorry didnt even realize that you had the 4.7 such a big truck i thought forsure 5.7.
I have no clue then as to why its droning, i have straight pipe(with cats) it quieter than a aftermarket muffler idiling, with no drone at any speed

All of my Magnaflows droned like hell. Thats why I took them off. They sound good until the tranny slips into OD, then it goes bad.

I know most people love their Magnaflow. I did not. Live and learn.

I got headders and a Magnaflow with dual outs on my 5.7. I think it sounds best at highway speeds around 1800 RPM and up. (about 60+ MPH)

I prefer MDS on. some say theres MPG gains. but Ive noticed that isnt so for my truck. So i keep MDS on.

I like hearing my drone, lets me know when im saving fuel.
