Lash Adjusters = Lifters

I am going to take the valve cover off tomorrow and see if I can rent a tool to remove the lash adjusters and see the condition of the existing lash adjusters.

Run some mystery ol throught it, see if tha quites it down. MMO will un-stick sticking lifters. Kinda sounds like a lifter maybe sticking. Going over on oil changes can lead to that. keep an eye on the oil pressure, if its really sluged up it can plug the pick up screen for the oil pump.

Ok so i changed the lash adjusters however the noise is still their also, I read some lash adjusters need to be depressed however the ones i got i soaked in oil for a very long time and they still would not depress even after putting a small allen wrench into the hole. I am starting to think its the timing belt. Took a couple videos.

Timing Chain loose???? or normal???
Engine running with passenger side valve cover off.

Ordered a complete timing kit with sprockets, tensioners, guides, etc. Also ordered a new oil pump and water pump. Is their anything else i should change while i'm at it?

Also the kit did not come with any gaskets. What gaskets will I need to complete this job?

And lastly how long could a 4.7l 2005 engine last me? It already has 279,000 miles on it but it runs flawless, just that timing belt noise.

So you are sure now that it is the timing chain??
And the 4.7s are supposed to be more prone to messing up so with 279,000 miles on it nothing should surprise you, You have more than doubled the life than some people will get

That engine sounds mighty familiar. Have you been able to diagnose the noise yet? I have a similar noise (although not quite as loud) after just having the engine completely rebuilt. Lifters were replaced again (1700 miles) but still have the noise. Noise is more prominent under a load (mild acceleration). Are you able to get at the adjusters through he valve cover?
