Looks like its time for shocks. Differental dosent seem to be leaking from the pics you provided, it looks as if something has leaked down over it tho.

If you do take it to a shop dont tell them you have no clue just tell them where to look, you dont want some one taking advantage of you

Just got back from the mechanic. Oil level is fine and they couldn't find the source of a leak so what they did was clean it up and not charge me. Told me to see if it starts leaking again. Just got home and... well... the leaking started again but I can see where it's leaking from. Looks like the differential thingy. How could that make its way up to the shocks though? See the picture below. I'm taking it back soon today. This fluid sorta smells like rotten eggs...

I revoke my statement something is leaking at your Diff, But its not necessarily the same fluid on your shock.
Could that bolts threads be possibly stripped?

Hmmmmm....It does look like the oil plug is leaking right there and as willdikem66 said, possibly stripped threads??.
Differential oil certainly has a distinctive pungent smell. So the rotten eggs smell is normal.
You havent recently had a service where the diff oil has been replaced have you?
Possibly someone overfilled the diff/stripped the bung threads??
Why there's oil up by the shocks from here, beats me too??
Still....you could be unfortunate and have two problems. The trucks like 5 years old and depending on how you have driven it, the shocks might be goosed as well and your just noticing they're leaking because the diff's leaking on your drive way causing you to look for leaks. The shocks might have been leaking for a while??

... Went out there and took a look at this again and the plug isn't even finger tight on the differential!!! I could tighten it with two of my fingers O_O Just got a tool from the garage and tightened it a little more (don't wanna strip it). Still taking it back to the mechanic in a bit though because there was fluid all over my left shock. How can something like that come loose??? There was only one recent mechanic under my truck like a week ago. it was for my power train inspection. I took it to a place I never been but they were one of the only near doge dealers. I don't think they'd mess with that or check that fluid.

Im not so sure i would take it back to a Mech who just looked at that it didnt even check to see if it was tight. Wait i know for sure i wouldnt go back to that place.

As for the other place, Most places wont check your Diff unless you say so or they need money and they try to trick you into servecing it.

Shock is still prolly bad

Make sure to replace the fluid lost

Do these things just go loose over time? I wonder if that dealer who did my inspection had something to do with this... Could be coincidental. I wonder what else is wrong with it now. Do I just leave it at "thats why my diff was leaking is because a loose plug"? Or should I assume I have a bad seal on the plug? How much can I expect to have the front shocks replaced?

Just got back from the same mechanic who stopped me as I was exiting my car to tell me that I'd have to come back another day. Since it's raining, it'd be hard for them to see the leaks... -_- I tried to explain to him that when I got home I noticed the plug on the front was loose so I got a ratchet and tightened it. His response: "Those are plastic and they just pop in"... I coulda sworn mine tightened as I screwed it in. It even feels tighter and I can't rotate it with my fingers anymore. Much more, it doesn't appear to be leaking anymore since I did this. Just got back home and checked. So far anyways. Not so sure about these mechanics... My mom recommended them to me.

I would tightly fit the plug back in clean the cover of the Diff as the Mech did and wait for it to leak. I wouldnt go back to a shop today, i wouldnt until it leaked again.

As for the shocks get on Rockauto.com and look of if you want a aftermarket set google your truck and shocks.

Sorry your post just popped up about going to the shop.....
**************As i said im not sure i would even take my truck back to the shop that looked over 1 of the 2 places that your diff could be leaking. Thats to easy and shows they arent really interrested********************

Um definately dont ever, ever go back to that mechanic. If he thinks a rear diff plug is just plastic he needs to go back to school, assuming he ever attended one. You should make sure that diff is not low on gear oil as well seeing how the plug was only hand tight.
