I've heard the solenoid packs can go bad on these trannys too. I might try replacing that before I get into a major teardown. Since there's no slippage in full limp mode I can't help but think it's pointing more towards a solenoid. This is also considering that there was sudden failure as opposed to gradual failure.

Anybody had to replace the solenoid pack before?

You are very correct about the seloniod, i know forsure a couple of people have maybe they will comment with a opinion.
Have you tried searching on this forum for seloniod pack going bad? Maybe you could find something then

Are the fluid levels OK etc?
Is the fluid a nice fresh red in colour and not smelling of burnt cork and without black floaters in it?

Yeah, fluid is freshly changed. I'm going to change it again today though and while I'm at it I'm gonna pull the valve body and inspect the solenoid.

Maybe im an idoit but is flushing and bleeding the same thing

Bleeding is something you do with a manual clutch in order to gain correct pressure in the clutch system. Flushing is purging the entire system of all fluids.

Yeah im aware of what both of them are but the way every one was telling you to flush your system it made me think they were telling you to bleed it. But bleeding isnt just for A manual.
