Default Where to put switch and run wire for aux lights?

I am looking to put some Hella 500FFs behind the grille and wondering where you guys put the switch, relay, and where you went thru the firewall. Pics would be awesome.

I would also like to hook em up to my high beam switch, so that when I use the high beams the Hellas turn on as well. Any disadvantages doing this?

Disadvantages: its illegal in some states to have more than four beams on at once.. the headlight accounts for two each when using high beams, and reason why lower bumper fog lights turn off when using high beams.. silly, huh?

I ran straight off the battery... Mounted the relay on the firewall side of the battery tray.. ran the switch through the brake passage protected with tubing, and stuck the sticker backed switch on plastic panel below four way headlight switch in cab..

Something on an aside: I pulled the rock and debris guard off the lights (which I mounted on bull bar), and I get likely 40% greater light out of them at the risk of losing them to a rock or something while driving..

Bjoern, I have my switch mounted in the upper console. The wires are run up the pillar and in the header panel.

I like that spot too... but it will all depend on which switch I decide to use for my lights...

I'm not so sure. I kinda like the idea of a big orange-lit switch up there. Make it look like an airplane cockpit (oops, flight deck) haha

I have a Dakota, so things aren't going to be exactly the same. But I have a lightbar with KcHiLites. They're all hooked up straight to the battery, this way I can turn them on whenever I feel like it, not just with the hibeams.
As far as the firewall, I just drilled right through and made my own hole and after the wires were through I sealed it up with silicone.
And the switches were mounted right below the steering wheel...it's an odd location but they're hidden from view, out of the way, yet still accessable
