Yeah, my gauge only moves about a half a needle on either side of the line. More precision would be nice, but I suspect it's engineered this way to reduce people's worries. Higher oil pressure can be just as bad as lower pressure, but the gauge hides most of the changes so as not to worry about it. I know if I had a digital read out, I'd be staring at it worrying every time it dropped or spiked. I tend to do that as it is with everything.

mine swings from one needle width to the left of center with warm oil at idle, to as far as one needle width to the left of the Maximum "OK" line with cold oil at cruise.

Well, the tech that did the lifter repair took a listen to my truck. He hears what I hear... said he doesnt think its a lifter, and almost definitely not an exhaust leak. He basically said:
-I would worry too much about a noise that quiet
-Said my oil pressure is good
-These motors are prone to tap/tick alot
-sounds like a hemi that has 100k miles(which mine does)
-doesnt hear any rod knock, but because the motor did have sludge in it from lack of oil changes the motor could have some wear, he thinks if COULD be a wrist pin
-If it gets louder bring it back in, otherwise he wouldnt worry about it.

Not really sure what to do now then. I guess just drive it. I am just afraid that if the truck blows up... well, blown up trucks are not worth much.
