Default wheel bearing 04 ram 2wd

Hello all. I think i have a front wheel bearing problem.
2004 Ram 1500 Hemi, 2wd, 4wabs.
I plan to jack it up and spin it later to confirm, but my questions are these:
Opt1. replace the hub assembly. looks like TIMKEN Part # SP500100 at Rockauto ~ $131?
Opt2. replace the bearing. can one remove the damaged bearing without a press? Also, can the new bearing be installed in the original hub without a press? Also, is it worth trying to keep the factory hub?

It seems that years (decades) ago I was able to replace my jeep axle bearing with a rubber mallet and a beer can...any tricks like this for this situation? I'm always up for emptying beer cans.
Thanks in advance.

UUUUUUUUUUUUhhhhhhh------no! Option one is your only real option, You'll spend more time trying to fix the old one that just biting the bullet and replace it. Just make sure you get the one with the abs sensor in it. Might not be a bad idea to do both, and pads if you need them, you'll be in there anyway!

Have Fun!!!!

I put it on a jack today and the front left felt a little weird. It spun ok, but made a slight grinding noise. I squeezed the caliper and it spun the same. there was very little if any play as I attempted to rack the tire/wheel back and forth.
For grins i jacked up the right front, did the same spin, and it was a little worse/more grindy, and felt like a small amount of slop when i racked the wheel/tire back and forth.
I drove for about 10 minutes in town and the lugs on both sides felt pretty hot.
I remember driving through a 18"deep puddle at the coast last weekend. now i think at 117k mi. they were close to the end of life...then under water briefly...then 4 hours on the highway home may have ruined them both.
I'm going to go drive some more.

Q: did i read somewhere that the caliper bolts = 80 lbs, mounting bolts 180lbs?

Thanks
