Block heater?
I'm considering buying a OE block heater for my 04 qc hemi.
Dealer wants 103.00 $ for heater/cord assembly . Due to the
Design ( dry port) and location (far back left of engine ) I have
Doubts it's worth it and or any real benifit . If any one has one of these
OE heaters can you give me your thoughts on its performance .
My main goal is better fuel Eco when it's cold , and of course
Less traumatic starts for the hemi . Thanks

My truck does not have a block heater either. I thought about it, but I already owned two of these magnet heaters:

Not identical to this. My old car use to start hard, so I used the block heater and one of these on the oil, and one on the transmission pans. For the truck I think I put both on the oil pan since it's the huge 4X4 pan. It made a difference in the ease of start up, but I'd still rather have a block heater. I didn't know it was a dry port though. I might be more inclined to install a block heater knowing that I won't have to mess with coolant.

Just my 2cents. Unless you live in Alaska or Canada, I see no real gains from a block heater. I and my truck lived in Northern Maine for 8yrs no block heater. I did have a winter grill insert to help with warm ups.
Yes I'm considering getting a pad type for pan and a oe block
Heater . Not sure if 1 if oe heater any good ,2 if any additional
Heaters needed . Looking for anybody's opinions on there OE heaters.

I can say that with my car, a block heater made a good difference. The oil heater helped out too.
I'd be interested with the truck specifically too. Easier starts and faster warmups sound great.
Hopefully someone else can drop a link, but I've seen new oil and trans pans that actually have the heating pad built in, and heat dissipating ridges for the summer. I don't drive my truck every day, so not an investment I could justify.

I don't know anything about buying or installing these things since they always come standard on vehicles up here but I can tell you my stock block heater has worked well to keep the engine a bit warmer. I've only used a it few times since it never gets that cold in my area but on the few occasions, it definately allowed for an easier start in cold temps (-25f or colder) and yes the heat comes in a lot quicker. If the goal is to clear your windows, may I suggest a 5$ scraper
Just a jab from a poor canadian who shoveled another 6" or snow this morning! Almost igloo building time now
(and that one's for you southern guys!)
