Default Shimmy in Rear End

I just replaced the rear axle assembly on my 2007 Ram. There is a shimmy in the rear end. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does, it is bad. could it be the mounting u-bolts not tight enough. Any other thoughts would be quite helpful.

Re-check everything you did... if it wasn't there before you did it then you might have missed something.

Most likely the U-Bolts, hard to tell unless you can describe the "shimmy" and when it occurs, from a stop, on a turn, etc. etc.

Cnstraight,

I'd have to agree with Izero and inquire if this problem was there before or only after you changed the rear axle assembly? Was the work completed by a Dodge dealer, yourself or an independent garage? Might want to start narrowing down the problem by double checking the work that was completed.

Does it occur more with hard acceleration? It could be the U-joint. My old Toyota used to do it real bad under hard (ha!) acceleration. It had a 4" lift but the pumpkin wasn't rotated to reduce the u-joint angle...
