Default Evr valve for the 4.7 - impossible

Im doing some preventative maintenance on my 05 4.7 ram so i picked up a new evr valve with gaskets for $41 at advance auto. My ram just hit 50,000 miles as i hardly drive it. The egr on the 4.7 is way in back in front of the firewall and i tried for an hour and i just cant seem to fit my hands back there let alone use a socket to remove the 4 bolts. Any tips of videos on how to do this? I was laying flat on my stomach and can just barely reach it with my hands.

Im pretty sure you are going to have to remove the intake manifold and even after that its still gonna be a little tight.

The tb isnt in my way but there are a bunch of wires and little hoses. Does anyone know if i take the 2 bolts on the side of the egr valve off if that metal hose will just pull out of the tb or is it permanently attached to it?

I changed the egr on my 08 Ram 1500. It is difficult to get too. If you take the two bolts out, the metal tube will slide out of the throttle body. I removed some of the bolts from the top side and some from under the truck.

O sweet, i can fit my hands in there enough to remove the 2 bolts holding that metal pipe on, so once that comes off ill have enough room to get to the other 2 bolts. Thanks for the time saving info.

Don't know if this helps but here is what alldata says:

The electronic EGR valve and solenoid assembly is attached to the rear of the left cylinder head. An exhaust gas routing tube connects the EGR valve to the intake manifold.
  1. Remove electrical connector at top of EGR valve solenoid.
  2. Remove tube mounting bolt at intake manifold.
  3. Remove two bolts connecting EGR tube to valve assembly.
  4. Remove gasket located between EGR tube flange and EGR valve assembly.
  5. Remove two EGR valve mounting bolts.
  6. Separate valve assembly from engine.
  7. Remove and discard metal gasket located between cylinder head and valve assembly.
