Default Upper steering column loose/ causing steering wheel to wobble. Need help!

Steering wheel is loose...after tearing down the steering column, found in the upper steering column that the wave spring is no longer in contact with the retainer pressed on the steering shaft, so the wave spring no longer holds the bearing retainer in place, and allowing the shaft to move up and down, side to side..and the lower end of the Upper steering column also has play. Need help! dealership wants $1100 for a new column. Cant seem to find a fix for this on the 3rd gen Rams

Why not just buy a replacement column from a salvaged truck or one getting parted out?
