What happened to my spark plugs?
I finally got my coil packs off and replaced my spark plugs with Champion copper core plugs.
This is what I found when I got the old plugs out.
The plugs/pics are numbered according to the cylinder they came out of.

I've only owned the truck for almost 3 weeks. The previous owner enjoyed runs through muddy corn fields, and god knows what other abuse.
The engine is dusty as all get out, looks like he drove through a river of mud.
Now it has a clean air filter, new copper plugs (those were platinums from the looks of them) Next is an oil change and I think I may run royal purple in it, but I really need to solve my ticking noise.
The guy owns a concrete business, but drove it through corn fields, so I think he had a farm connection.
There is a good chance it was burning dyed fuel.
what colour is it typically dyed?

So what does everyone think about the ngk v power 6987? they are not copper but nickel so im just curious if anyone has tried them and if i should look for copper instead of nickel? I have the 2007 4.7.

"farm connections" are not really good enough to burn dyed fuel, but 'stranger' things have happened.
It's typically dyed purple, the farm stuff anyways. I'm not sure if maybe there's a construction dye as well.

Those plugs don't look bad considering the mileage. The longest I've gone between plug changes is 50k, and my tips looked much better than yours. Those may be the originals. I'll bet you are seeing immediate mpg increase.
