Hi y'all first time posting , looking for a Lil help.

2008 4.7 auto 38k miles
Started truck up, put in drive and took about 10 sec. Before it engaged then was really sluggish.. Well it was n 2nd gear.. Tried to manually start in 1st with no luck and would not go into OD.. Waited for engine temps to come up and checked fluid.. Looks good.. Turned truck off and waited a min or so and now tranny performs like it should.. I'm puzzled.. Truck is stock and outside temp is around 75f .. Located in south Texas area.. The hesitation from park to drive has happended before but never lost 2nd and overdrive.. Thanks for any info or recommendations/tips..

First thing I would do is pull the codes. Even if there are no CELs, there could be a code stored in the system relating to the issue.

 

no codes showed up. i have a extended warranty but my local dealer claims they cant do anything unless theres a check engine light or is messing up when in bring it to them.. i just dont want to be stranded with the family on board... thanks guys
