Default P3400

Well I have been having a problem of power loss then surging while at a constant speed. Which never gave me a check engine light? Well yesterday while pulling the boat from the bay I heard the knock for about 3 seconds then 7 miles later I get a P3400 error code.

When I check the code it said insufficient oil pressure. So when I checked the oil it was about ¾” lower than the low mark. I also noticed the oil gauge was always at the ½ mark when it’s normally around ¾. I went ahead and changed the oil (5W-20 / 7 quarts). While under the truck I looked for an oil leak. The only oil I noticed was at the end of the transmission tail piece and it covered the rear portion of the transmission oil pan. Nowhere on the bell housing was any signs of oil leak. So I don’t think it was the engine oil. So I checked the transmission oil and it was spot on.

A few questions, where would my oil be going? Also what is the oil all over the rear of the transmission?

Thanks,
Robert
