My truck is currently straight piped but the neighbors are complaining recently. It's a 3" exhaust pipe but all I can find locally is 2.5" mufflers. Sound and performance wise how would going 3" pipe....3-2.5" reducer....then muffler work?

 

Look online at the auto parts stores they can get more than what they keep in stock I got a 3" in dual 2.5" out magnaflow from advanced auto parts

 

Yea mufflers should be 3" in and 2.5 out. Your performance should actually increase with the muffler as long as you get a good one (like not a flowmaster)

No actually I live in the country and there house is a good ways down the road, I don't even drive past there house. But I leave for work at 3:30am and he threatened to call the cops if I didn't put one on.. Nothing I can really do.

 

I ended up getting a thrush glass pack 3" in 3" out. It is quieter but has a really deep pop to it. If I get on the throttle it is a little loud but nothing like straight piped.. I miss it already.

 

Nothing HE can really do either. Cops cant MAKE you put a muffler on. What state do you live in?

Better yet, go get a muffler AND a cutout, when you leave in the morning, open the cutout, when he bitches, close it and everything would go out the muffler.

 

^^^^ This. I want to get an e-cutout when I do my exhaust for this sole purpose lol

 

My understanding is that a muffler IS a requirement in Ontario. But I like your cut out idea..if he wants to play that game we can lol
