Replacing fuel pump, how remove?
Hey guys. I dropped my tank in order to replace fuel pump. The manuals both online and the book I have show a simpler plastic lock nut setup. Unfortunately this is different. Does anyone know how to remove this? Here's a picture.

Also trying to remove tubing on the setup to the left I broke the tube
which I believe goes to the vent tube. What is that unit called, can I micky mouse a repair? Any help appreciated.

That valve assembly is part of the tank. If that fuel pump ring is as rusty as I think it looks, you were probably going to need a tank anyway, broken valve or not. You can try to fix where it broke, but if you have to pass emissions every year, you're likely going to be dropping it again to fix a CEL. You don't need that special tool, BUT if you use a hammer and wide screwdriver to get that collar off, be careful and don't stab a hole in the tank.

Well, rust is one thing but if it's perforated I wouldn't reuse that ring. Soak it down with rust penetrant. You won't get it off with pliers or anything like that, you'll have to strike it or get that tool with a breaker bar.
That snap ring so corroded it's falling apart as I strike it. Dealer quoted 510 for a new tank. Advanced Auto 149. I wonder if it's really OEM with same fittings? Will find out tomorrow when it arrives. Sounded too good to be true.
Yeah, if it is complete tank and fittings that would be good to know.
