Unhappy The Winter Blues 05 2500 Gas

The Winter Blues,,, Literally, Im turning blue im so cold..... Good Day, I seem to have some sort of electrical problem, I was wondering if someone else has maybe has had this same problem or could help with where to look. I Drive a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Gas. I am having a problem with the factory dodge command start and the heater. I would start the truck with the remote and let it warm up as I am up in northern Canada. I get in and put the key in and switch it forward. As soon as I would touch the brake to put the truck in gear, My heater would shut OFF. The heater would SOMETIMES come back after a few minutes of driving. This problem only started to happen when I would use the command start, If I just got in and used the key I would have no problem. The other day I went to start it with the remote and nothing would happen except flashing headlights, the truck would not stat with the command start. Now my heater/fans do not work at all anymore. The heater seemed to only not work when I used my command start, Now after the command start does not work, My fans do not either. Its -25*C here, I plan on taking it in to get looked at but its hard to get the truck there when it has not moved all winter and is covered in snow and ice. I need the heater.... I was wondering if someone knows where/what I could look at? Would be much appreciated

Sounds like you're having a fuse problem... Check the fuses, then pull the radio bezel off and check the circuits with a multimeter... These problems can take some significant time to troubleshoot so I'd say unless you want to freeze your **** off take it into the dealer via Tow Truck, and just let them get into it....

I agree, especially with the command start, which is an add-on module. I'm not sure if it has to be programmed in, because 2005 is the old bus config, but I also doubt if it can just be removed either.

May also be a relay set acting up----this one is a little beyond me.
Good Luck------kind of a sucky time of year to have to deal with that!

I would also remove the command start and install a more reputable brand R/S system.....

B.kosty,

I would have to agree with Izero and Gone Fishin to bring the vehicle into the dealer for further diagnostics, so that they can assist to pin point the problem. If the vehicle can not be moved and stuck in snow with no heat, a tow truck would probably be your best bet.

Sorry to hear about the inconvenience you have encountered.
