Default Knocking sound coming from oil pan.

Well first I would like to say this had been going on for a while. I only hear the sound when I'm sitting idle and sometimes it will be louder then others. I first thought it was my lifters knocking but after listening closer it sounds like it is coming from my oil pan. I plan on dropping my oil pan in the next month or so but I just wanted to see if anyone had an idea as to what it could be.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0qG...e_gdata_player

Maybe you should drop the oil pan a bit sooner and give a good inspection. Any oil leaks to make you think maybe it is a rod bearing? Not much else moves down there

Nope, no oil leaks. How hard is it to drop an oil pan by the way? Even though I have been hearing this sound for a while I haven't really noticed any difference in performance and I my truck hasn't thrown any codes. I just hope it's something simple and can be fixed.

If you want to check for a hemi tick then simply pull the front wheel liners and check the exhaust manifold bolts

Have no worries on IF it can be fixed. Anything can be fixed.

Yup that sounds exactly like it.. Man I thought the hemi tick was something different.

I've read about the hemi tick under "common issues" thread but I just didn't think that was the problem. I also have another sound but it only happens when I start my truck after it has been sitting for a little bit. It sounds like an exhaust leak but it goes away after I start driving.

The one other potential thing people seem to forget about is the catalytic converter. When the internals break they will sound like a knocking from the oil pan also.

Sounds like your issue is more the tick but it's something to keep in mind

Still might be an exhaust leak, sometimes the studs on the head get pulled out a bit, and when the metals expand as they warm up they might not leak anymore...

You will have to have a smoke test done on the exhaust system with the engine cold to find the leak (if there is one).

Otherwise you might just be looking at a standard Hemi Tick...

sounds just like mine and it has always sounded like that, no worries. i do agree that a knocking sound is not what you want to hear out of your truck ( a little scary )
until you find out most hemis do this.

Well I took my wheel and my liner off today and checked my manifold bolts and sure enough the top left hand bolt on my passenger side was broke off...Guess I will be making a trip to the dealership tomorrow morning to buy new bolts. Will be replacing my driver's side bolts as well.
