Unhappy HELP! 2005, 5.7 Liter Dodge Ram 1500 Stalling

A few months ago I bought a used 2005 Ram 1500 with only 55,000 miles. The truck needed some repairs right off the bat (new tires, new brake pads, new shocks, new air conditioner.) I fixed it all, and it seemed fine. Then, on the way into work one morning, I crank it and it starts idling rough. I make it down the block and then it suddenly stalls at a stop sign. Right before it stalled, the brakes felt different. Just barely touching them made the truck jerk and shiver. Right before it stalled at the light, it started rolling backwards fairly quickly, even though it was still in drive. The radio, dash lights, etc. still worked just fine. It cranked again, just fine, but I didn’t trust it anymore. I had it towed to my favorite mechanics. They told me that it needed to be taken onto the dealer, and not to drive it because it was too unreliable and wouldn’t get me down the road. It did stall for them.
I had it towed to the dealer, they found a loose wire in the dash, but didn’t seem overtly confident that the wire was causing the stalling problem. They said that they were unable to make it stall.
The truck ran just fine for a few months, and I had all but forgotten about the problem. The other day I cranked it and started to back it up. Every time I touched the brakes the truck jerked and shivered again. As I tried to turn it into a parking space in my driveway, realizing that something was very wrong, it died. The windshield wipers were still on. The radio still played. The dash lights still worked. I cranked it again (started right up) moved it out of the way of my other car, and called a tow truck. When I got out of the car, there was a heavy smell of gas, as though it had been poured on the ground. Nothing visible however, and the truck had a full tank of gas. Now the dealer claims that it won’t stall and that it is perfectly fine. I get the impression from them that they don’t believe me.
What should I do? I’ve read that this problem is quite common and gets worse. Has anyone found any fixes, or has any suggestions of what I should try?

fixes vary from truck to truck....

can be anything, but most comon are:

Bad Plugs
Bad Fuel Pump
Clogged Cat
Bad Ground(s)
Bad Electrical Connection (Short Circuit to Frame)
Mice Ate Wires
Vacuum Leak
Dropped Valve
Burnt Valve
Cam Angle Sensor Failure
Crank Angle Sensor Failure

And ton's more....

You really haven't given us any more info that would help...

Were there any DTCs? Did the dealer tell you where the wires were that they fixed and what they went to?

What modifications have you made to the truck?

Tell us anything else that you think might help.. post up the old service report the dealer gave you too.. then we can start troubleshooting..

TB cleaning for one. Maybe a vacuum leak. You got alot going on there. Dont go back to that dealer. Seems their heads are buried like a tick where the sun dont shine.

Plugs, TB clean, EGR clean/replace. PCV clean/replace. Fuel pump failures are rare, and often the result of "running it down to fumes".

Could be any of what has been stated....

Spray brake cleaner around the vacuum lines (stay away from sensors and electrical connectors) and if the truck stalls you've found a vacuum leak.

Also clean the TB as well.

Then replace the PCV valves and we can continue troubleshooting from there.
