Default Towing a toy hauler with Ram 1500 5.9

So I currently tow a 19ft travel trailer and am thinking of going to a 21ft toy hauler. My truck tows the travel trailer ok but not great. The dry weight of my 19ft travel trailer is 4k lbs the toy hauler is 4600lbs dry So I am starting off 600 on the + side then add 2 quads.
I am a bit concerned about going up to a toy hauler. Anybody have experience with this?

2002 1500 Sport, 5.9l , 3.93 gears

Get an SCT, 180* t-stat and some 4.56 gears. That'll help majorly. Oh yeah, and make sure your cap/rotor, plugs and wires are in good shape and that your cat and 02's are too.

It's a start.

If SCT is a Super Chips Tuner? I have that and set on the tow mode although I will say I did not see much difference if any by my butt dyno.

I have read about the 180 t-stat but I read that it makes no difference on the 5.9 if I remember correctly?? Am I wrong there?

I just did the cap, rotor, plugs and wires when I did the DIY plenum fix about 4 months ago along with a Magnaflow and AEM air filter.

Is there any way to test/check the cat and 02 sensors?

I was thinking of doing gears but I have 3.93 gears now and with the OD off I am doing 2500 rpm at 60mph.

No, the SCT is NOT the Superchips, SC sucks compared to the SCT. And actually, the SCT tuners by Hemifever (his real name is Sean, Hemifevertuning here on DF) are awesome. They also require a 180* t-stat. The 180 stat does nothing by itself but is essential for the SCT, which removes ALL the torque management that Dodge put in the PCM. You can also order custom tunes from him as well for an extra $175 on top of the $350 for the tuner and canned tunes. You might also consider Harland Sharp 1.7 Roller Rockers as well. There are lots of engine mods you could do to pull at trailer better, it all boils down to money.

As far as the cat, most times it will clog up when bad and the 02's should have been replaced with NTK units when you did the plenum.

I have a toy hauler and it is 21ft but the try weight is 7000lbs and my hemi pulls it ok but I get terrible gas mileage and the whole time Im pulling it I want a cummins LOL. I think you will be fine but I would look into some more stuff for power cause everything help. Id like to get a tuner and see how much of a diffrerence that makes.

Any tuner that removes Chrysler's torque management is a good start.

That's why over in the 2nd gen second everyone loves the SCT, because Sean removes ALL the torque management AND bumps the ignition timing up a little bit.

I don't have one.

I hear you. I wish I could afford a Cummins.
The difference between your Hemi and My 5.9 is about 100hp. I wish I could at least get that much......
