Check the hole before you ride through it!
Last week I found a nice shallow mud hole, at least I thought it was. It was about 50+ feet long and as wide as the road. It looked shallow enough for a 2wd to go through, so I did. It was great. I was slingin' mud all over the place. I was halfway through, all is good. I can see the end of the mud coming fast. 20 feet, 15, 10 . . . CRAP. I found that the shallow hole wasn't so shallow after all. The truck sank about 5 - 6 feet from the end. I opened the doors to find them skimming the water. The rims are not visible. The exhaust bubbling under water. I couldn't move but 2 or 3 inches either direction. I sat there for about an hour before a friend pulled me out in his Chevrolet 2500 4wd. I haven't heard the end of it yet.
Oh well, all's well that ends dirty.

No, I wasn't on my way to go muddin'. I was on my way to pick up a motorcycle so I didn't bring the camera. The mud was just an added bonus on the way.

Still sounds like you had fun. Getting an occasional tow is just part of the the off-road experience. If you keep finding mud holes, you'll probably be posting about trading for a Powerwagon in the near future.
2wd + mud = stuck
now i did have old 2 wd chevy that I would often take "mudding". Basically it was just in my buddies field, slipping and sliding around until it would backfire and start the carb on fire. Throw a little beer on it and do it over again.
