O2 sensor code explanation??
04' 2500 4x4, Hemi, Auto, just over 88kmi.
Just incase it matters.... I had the wife start my truck and crank the heat earlier when she left(its 28 out today) . I forgot for a few minutes. Then when I left the truck had been running with the heat cranked for 30 minutes.
When I got in the friggin engine lite was on. So I grabbed my cortex and it told me P0038. High O2 sensor heater circuit voltage. Or something like that. Bank 1 sensor 2.
I had an O2 sensor issue last year but it was just O2 sensor voltage only. Had the sensor replaced.
First off....which side is bank 1? Then where is sensor 2?
Second, Whats the likely cause? I know It could be a few things but I have had zero issues with O2 sensors since I had the other one replaced last year.

I'm not opposed to going and buying an O2 socket. Are they easily reachable though or do you have to be a 6 ft armed double jointed chimp to get to them?
Also do you remember what they cost each? At a quick glance I'm seeing them online for $50 for rear of cat sensors.

I was able to just crawl under the truck and reach up and change them.. Might have to twist a bit but it wasnt to difficult.. I cant remember what we paid for ours... You can check Rock auto or your local parts store for best price..

In general... I have just cut the wire off the old one, pushed a deep well 1/2 drive 7/8 socket over it and turned it out. Can use an open end wrench to replace it... Or you can borrow a socket (or buy it). I'd make sure you can get that socket is deep enough to get to the hex portion before you make the cut.

As fj5gtx said above, will work, also if you unplug the sensor first you can use a 7/8 open end wrench to take them out and put them back in, with usually some difficulty. I'd soak them with wd 40 or some other penetrating oil and let them sit overnight before wrenching on them. In general though, they usually come out ok. Like someone said though, the proper socket is really the way to go...Good luck
