Here's a couple shots of mine. It's to the bottom of the rear view mount in the middle, and about 9.5" on the ends. It's well past the legal line as marked on the passenger side, but just about perfect when driving into the sun since the Ram windshield is so large.

I like that look too! I went and had mine done yesterday (since i was going to the tint place to get my window fixed already) and the guy said that he was either going to put it above or below the mirror but he decided to put it above because when it was below, it was huge (kinda like yours) but i like it either way!

And Codiac, i like your TJ too! I have a black one as well

The rule in NY is 6 inches, and 70% transmittal on front windows, which is pretty much how it comes from factory.
