found a 06 mega cab 4x4 that im goin to go look at, curious on the 8 lug wheels in the pic. is this a case of using the 2500 frame and suspension but 1500 axels? any info and things to look for would be a great help.

my bet is someone upgraded the axles from stock to accomodate some extra weight and towing..... doubt it's on the 2500 chassis though.... grab the VIN # and post it up if you want and we can take a look at what it might have come with...?

Or you can go to a dealer and ask them for the build sheet.

 

the 1500 mega is a rebaged 2500 just like GM used to do with their 1500HD. Same frame, axles etc.

 

Its a 2500 frame, to accomadate for the mega cab, Hence IMO it should be badged 2500, makes sence right?

 

Yup its a 2500 with 1500 badging. Even has SAF.

 

In short. A Mega Cab comes with the 8 lug axles stock.

 

I take it back I didn't look close enough at the picture before... It's definitely a 1500 Mega Cab...

 

thanks for all the info, will be going to look at it friday. this is a slt with factory sunroof aftermarket dvd in the rear head rest and 54000 miles. its backed in someting and bent the bumper not to bad . guy wants 21000 for it think its a fair price?

Price depends on where abouts you're looking. I think it's in the ballpark tho.

As for SAF, I suspect he meant solid front axle...
