So glad this turned around for you!
That's usually the first place to start when having trouble, changing fluid and filters etc.
Did you put a drain plug on that pan when you did it?
Really worth doing.
Al.
I sure did.

Well i spoke too soon! This morning it was really cold again and the truck wouldnt go into gear at all! I could put it in any gear and put it to the floor and nothing..then after work it went into gear but went into limp mode like before and i got code p0841 which is pressure switch A correct? So now im thinking i shouldve put that governor pressure solenoid in when i had it apart..looks like ill be putting that solenoid in after all...anyone have any other input?

When you had the pan off did you have a lot of very fine metal shavings on the magnet? I had replaced my solenoids once, and trans was great for a while. Started acting up again, and replaced them again. Worked great for awhile, then started acting funny again. The solenoids have magnets in them that can screw them up if there's too much metal particles. Turned out my clutch packs were just too worn, and meant rebuild time.

Forgot to mention this was a 2000 1500 with 140k. My 2006 1500 has had no issues at all at 135k. Uh Oh, I think I just jinxed myself.... My guess is your fluid and filter change "rinsed" your solenoids temporarily, allowing them to work properly. I would contact a reputable trans shop and have them drive and diagnose. You may spend some money, but compared to crawling under a truck in freezing temps, getting covered in cherry juice, and replacing gaskets and parts, you will be better off!!

I don't have the attention span to read all of this today, but if I was you I would check the speed sensors/abs sensors at the wheels, those are the a common problem that can cause the PCM to lock-out 4th gear and induce limp mode.

Also would not hurt to flush and fill the trans & transfer case (plus filter changes) and the rear differential.

Those are my first step recommendations at this point.
