Default A 2007 5.7L into a 2003 ram

I have another motor lined up for my ram ..i need a bit of guidance from someone who is familiar with these motors . My truck is a 2003 ram short wheel base 1500, 4.7/ 5 speed manual ... (motors wore out) i found a 5.7L from a 2007 ram ... will this work in my truck without to much complication? I mean it should bolt in but what about computer.. and what about the manual tranny , will it work with the 5.7 L? ..... someone told me i would need to put a 2500 flywheel on ..will that even fit in setup ?

It will work and fit mine minus one thing that can be fixed

The 06+ have MDS lifters where as 05 and older do not.

You can take the lift sets out of your 03 and put them in your 07 engine. Under the intake are electrical connections to make the 06+ MDS lifters engage and you would disconnect those electrical connections.

Other than that you will be fine. The bell housing for the trans is the same

Doesn't the 4.7 and 5.7 have a different computer though? And the 06+ have CANBUS where the older vehicles do not, don't know if that comes into play though

I thought you had a 03 5.7, not the 4.7

Big difference and A LOT more work
