Help!
I have a 2005 ram with the 4.7l 90k. Im having a problem while pulling out under normal conditions the rpms drop and surge back up. The rpms seem to be anywhere form 500 to 1500. sometimes stalling the truck out in stop and go traffic. This happens mostly while the motor is cold and seems to get better as the truck heats up. Once the truck has shifted out of 1st gear it seems ok.. No Check engine light or pending codes. Have just installed new plugs less than 5k ago. Recent tranny pan drop with fluid and filters. Fuel mileage has dropped considerably, but that could be the ethanol gas. Please share your thoughts , i was considering a throttle body cleaning and new idle control valve. along with TPS.
hope it was Mopar brand or certified equivalent... A lot of Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep owners have problems with their trans after they change the fluid and don't use a Mopar brand fluid... some kind of friction additives and whatnot in it that our transmissions need....
That might be part of your issue...

the bottle said it was for chrysler/dodge vehicles. meets or exceeds specs. Lets just say it is the fluid or filter, will it cause the trans to fail. Its been doing this probably last 100 miles.

I don't think that it would cause permanent damage unless you're beating the **** out of it....
You might also want to check for Vacuum Leaks, because what you're describing can be caused by a vacuum leak too.
I just think it's the filter b/c thats the only other service you've completed recently... remember to check the trans fluid level with the truck running btw...
Have you checked for C-Codes are well as regular DTCs?
Check the link in my signature for instructions on checking DTCs and C-Codes....
Has ANYTHING else happened to your truck? Off-Roading...? Let someone borrow it? How long ago did you put fuel in it?
If it happened right around the time of a fuel up you might have gotten some bad gas....
Oh and I can't believe I forgot the most common cause of this type of problem...
What Plugs did you change to? If you changed to Iridium, Platinum or anything other than COPPER CORE plugs, then that is definitely an issue.
Our trucks run like Garbage if you put anything other than Copper Core plugs in.

I just put the Champion copper core plugs as listed under the hood at the end of Nov. This is the second trans filter and fluid ive done. first at 56k when i bought the truck and second at 87k the only difference is the 1st time i used mopar filters and fluids. Due to a Lack of cash with a new baby at home i purchased the napa filter and fluids. Have not checked for a vac leak yet but plan to do that and throttle body clean tom eve. Just checked c-code:00 00? Just after trans f/f change got a DTC P0700. But figured that was due to the change. I checked the fluid level after my last trip out. It was at the full level on the dip stick.
also when this issue started i filled the tank and ran lucas fuel system deep clean in the tank. No change. This tank is from a different station. Never off road other than the dirt road down to the camp. Never pulled a trailer with it either no tow pkg. last tune up was at 57k But that was K&n filter and think those were Ngk platinum.
