Well I do know that Dodge made some updates to the MDS programming, so that might be your issue?

If your tuner allows you to, try turning the MDS off and see if the problem returns?

If the problem doesn't return then you have a few options unless you just want to leave the MDS off and call it a day.

Also might want to look and see if the manufacturer of your tuner has any "updates" to their software that you might benefit from.

Finally took my truck to a dodge dealer after my usual mechanic could not find anything wrong. They actually ended up pulling three codes:

P0300 - Multiple Cylinder Misfire
P0152 - O2 Sensor 2/1
P0430 - Catalyst system efficiency below threshold

They checked my spark plugs (new) which were fine, reset my adaptives, replaced O2 sensor 2/1 and everything seems to be running fine now. If the P0430 code pops back up they said I may need to replace cat. Cost was $238.08 total out the door. Such a relief to have this fixed, I thought it was gonna be expensive which is the reason I put off bringing it into the shop for so long, thank god for the company truck. Thanks for all the replies everyone!

So $238 to check your plugs and reset the PCM all of which you had (or should have) tried already?

Ouch

Rocpilefsj,

Glad to hear your truck has been fixed and the dealer was able to resolve your concerns!

Ouch
And they replaced his O2 sensors from what I understand...?

Glad it's fixed! Hate when the PCM doesn't pick up DTCs...

Default My 08 5.7 ram

I have changed my plugs twice and coils packs twice this year and egr valve twice and my truck still shows multiple cylinder misfire. But if I drive to work about 20 miles it’s fine but on my way home from work it starts chugging and says multiple cyclinder misfire but if I shut the truck off let it sit for a few minutes then start it up it goes away until I start cursing then it comes back. What could cause this? 179,000 miles

I had the same issue in my truck and I took it to a mechanic who was able to find nothing. After a bit of researching I decided to take a look at my Crankshaft Position Sensor. I could tell from the outside that it was cracked and it looked funny. Took serious work to get it out without snapping it off flush with the block but it solved the issue. Maybe give yours a check?

Default 06 Dodge 1500 with 5.7 hemi 153,000mi

My pickup was doing the same thing. It threw a code for faulty crankshaft sensor or timing fault and multi cylinder misfire. It didn't want to start until I cleared the codes, started up and ran fine until the check engine light came back on. I went the cheap path first, replaced the sensor. Fixed the problem for about a month. Then last Friday it didn't want to start again, started throwing crankshaft sensor code along with multi cylinder misfire, engine started chugging on the highway. I cleared the codes, got it to my shop. Had time this morning to tare into it. I was convinced the timing chain was needing to be replaced but I ruled out rather quickly. So I checked the brand new crankshaft sensor, it was fine. I decided to check the wiring going to the sensor. That harness comes down the front of the engine makes a 90° turn towards the back of the engine, goes behind the oil filter right along the top of the oil pan. At that 90° turn, the wires were rubbing on the block and were bare, touching each other and the block. Cut out the bare sections, spliced, heat shrinked and plugged everything back in. It started right up, ran rough and kept throwing the multi cylinder misfire code P0300. Cleared codes again and took it for a 15 mile test drive. Check engine light turned off halfway through and so far it seems fine. Minor electrical problems get over looked while looking for something bigger. So far, I'm lucky, this is the only problem my pickup has given me. This thread helped me out. I hope y'all are able to figure your problems out.
