Default 03 4 wheel drive

Does 03 Ram 2500 4wd work off of vacuum and cad actuator or what when put in 4wd the thing makes a grining noise need help?

floor shifter or switch. switch is vaccum. floor shifter is combo of both

Does anyone have any ideals on what would be making the thing make that nosie sounds like some thing not going in all way it will not turn the font wheels. thanks for the input

Thanks. Hey p38251 where would that be at not on front ax like all the other ones i have seen thanks again need all the help I can get is that a bad fix.

Passanger side axle tube, on the back side. If you have 2 people one person can work the switch. The other can feel and see if the actuator is working. does the 4wd light come on steady or blink? when you try to use 4wd.

is the 4wd lever on the floor? or is it a dial switch on the dash? We need to know what we're working with first....

I thanks for the help the lever is in the floor. But does not have any thing on axle. I thought it sould have it there to but doesnt. Tha light comes on steady

the fork that engages the 4wd might be worn and/or not engaging properly. It's hard to tell without seeing and hearing it happen first hand... but that is what I think.
