Default Truck Broken down in Estero FL, Need some Eyes

I Have a 2004 Ram 1500 3.7L Quad Cab broken down in Estero FL Its at a mechanic shop who says the engine is blown! If any one is close by I would like to get a friendly set of eyes on it.

PM me and we can work out a deal for you to take a look at it before we drive from Louisiana to pick it up.

I would like to get this done ASAP as we would like to recover it this weekend!

Did you ask WHY he thinks it is blown? What happened to it while you were driving (be honest)?

Honest, I am in Louisiana my truck is in Florida I was not driven and have no idea. The person driving the truck said it just quit! The mechanic said it needs a new motor!

I told them do not touch it, and asked them to measure the outside to outside tire width to see if i can fit it on a dolly. Mechanic said it will not fit because its a 4WD.

I thanked him for his time told him not to touch the truck "And Thought to my self wow what a sharp one bc its a 2WD" and posted here. We are about to get a auto trailer to go pick it up..

U-Hall says the wheel width is 79.25" and will not fit on a dolly or auto trailer they have, so I am going to tow my auto trailer down there.

My first thought is no or low oil.

It's true they won't fit on a dolly. Those are made for small passenger cars. You're going to need a flat bed or get it towed somewhere

Do you know the width of the wheels, U-hall has a auto transport trailer I will be driving my 97 dodge with a 360 and towing package to recover it. I would like to rent a trailer when i get there so i dont have to spend the gas towing my auto trailer down empty.

Yea, the info they have is not correct! I took a Porsche to texas for a buddy last year and had to lie to the uhall sales man about the the car we had because he said my 97 could not tow the weight of the trailer and car together and he assured me the car was to wide for the trailer.

They also said my 2002 ram 4.7 was no able to tow my 87 dodge D-50 on a dolly. Once again it fit fine we just had to drop the drive line so we did not run the tranny dry.

They do that for insurance/liability purposes... and if you crash and they determine you weren't towing what you said you were going to insurance no longer covers you... go read the fine print on the contract you sign when you rent one.

Let us know what you find out when you get the truck back home...

Rambodybuilder.com lists your truck at 77.3" from face to face of the wheels.

If you have aftermarket wheels or wider than factory tires it could be more.
