When I was doing my research of the truck there were numerous car/truck mag reviews that mentioned the 3.92 gearing as specific to the TRX4 package, along with the other things mentioned above.

dealer could order TRX4 package with diferant gears.
My sons TRX4 came with 3:55 gears
My Night runner came with 3:92 gears

TRX and TRX4 are two completely different packages. A TRX could come with 3.55s as they are 2WD drive.

I got it from the Dodge brochure.

This is the FIRST time I've ever heard anything about gears for a specific trim package. I'm inclined to believe the gears have absolutely nothing to do with it.

Obviously the Power Wagon has 4.56. The R/T has 3.92. SRT10 has 4.10 I believe.

ST/SLT/TRX4/Big Horn/Lone Star/Thunder Road/Laramie etc don't specify gear ratio.

The son just got a 09 crew cab 4x4 with the ram box that has 3:55 gears

That's terrible lol. I can't believe the factory would do that. Defeats the purpose of a 4x4 to have those gears.
