Default New key

So I remember the posts from long ago about getting a second set of keys and fob after loosing one of the original sets. Now I know you can't reprogram a new set without 2 sets. But I remember Hammer talking about ACE hardware possibly doing it with only one set. Has anyone confirmed this? I've had 3 friends lock their keys in their cars in a short amount of time so I'm kinda paranoid lol. Also my manual locking mechanism for my drivers door doesn't work with my key (the key will turn but it doesn't unlock the door) so I would prefer a second fob as opposed to just a key to get in.

IIRC, your truck should have a feature that prevents you from locking the keys in the truck. Of course if the fob dies and you try to unlock it with the key the alarm will activate. But your key won't work anyway lol so the best advice I have is to put a fresh battery in the fob

I took my only key to ace hardware and they cut and programmed it in like 30 seconds. I didn't think it would work but works fine. It cost me about $70. But cheaper than anywhere else.

So Ace can do it? Does it have to be a bigger store? I have a small one by campus so I was gonna go there and try. And I want the second set in case I lose the set I have now. Which is what happened with my one of my original 2 sets lol

I'm not sure if smaller ace hardware do it. But the one by my house isn't big at all. I would check online or call them so you don't waste your time.

I'll just swing by there on Friday. I have to do an oil change as well so I'll be out already. I'll look into Home Depot too. But it's way farther away then Ace

Usually the people that are trained on how to program keys are only there during scheduled days and times.... so make sure you call ahead and find out...

If you are in Canada, Home Hardware makes chipped keys. 59.99 and up if I recall correctly.

Cheap like straw.
